Tips For Choosing a Bathroom Vanity

You have no problem picking out your clothes in the morning and you can always make up your mind when it comes to what to eat for dinner. But picking out a bathroom vanity, now that’s another story. A vanity can make a bold statement in any bathroom and can serve as the most practical piece of furniture in the room - but you need to know what to look for before you begin shopping around.

Styles
Casual: this type of vanity is built to be practical and functional. If lots of storage space is a must with a simple and inviting style, this type of vanity won’t disappoint.

Traditional: looking for a more elegant look? Traditional vanities tend to feature beautiful trimming and styling on polished woods and metals. Much more decorative and is the perfect solution for a master bathroom.

Contemporary: sleek edge lines and minimalist designs create a contemporary vanity’s cutting-edge style.

Finishes
There are lots of different finishes to choose from depending on your style. Solid wood such as birch, pine or oak can be used as well as polished stone, veneer or laminates.

Want to speak with an expert that can help with your decision? That’s where we come in. We realize you have many choices when it comes to remodeling your bathroom. We appreciate that hiring a contractor can be challenging and not a decision you want to make in haste. Re-Bath of Richmond wants to be your bathroom remodeler.

4 Easy DIY Bathroom Projects

Not all bathroom projects have to cost and arm and a leg. In fact, there are lots of ways to spruce up a boring bath without spending much money at all. And what’s even better is that most of these projects don’t require hiring a professional - you can do it yourself! So, if your boring bathroom could use a little tender loving care, try a few of the crafts below:

  1. Add Shelving: not enough space to store your towels or toiletries? There’s a simple solution - add shelving! With a few pieces of plywood, some paint and a drill you’ll be able to keep your things organized for just a few dollars. Pro Tip: adding corner shelving is an excellent way to make use of otherwise unused space.
  2. Add Seating: have a large bathroom where you need to fill some empty space? Add a bench or seating to give it more of a spa-like ambiance. You can build it yourself out of reclaimed wood or head over to the local thrift store.
  3. Paint the Vanity: a little bit of color goes a long way. If you’re tired of looking at the same boring colors every day, grab a can of paint and a brush and get going on the vanity. Use colors such as green or red if you’re feeling bold.
  4. Swap Out the Shower Curtain: feeling cramped in the shower? No, you don’t need to replace the entire shower you can simply add a curved shower rod instead of the straight bar you’re using now. We also recommend replacing the old curtain with updated fabric. Go for a nautical theme or exquisite patterns to create a focal point.

Are Your Bathroom Cleaning Supplies Clean?

Trying to clean your bathroom with dirty cleaning supplies just doesn’t make sense, right? Well, then why aren’t you taking the time to make sure your tools are sanitized? Most of us neglect our cleaning essentials and it’s only making things worse.

Scrub Brushes
Using a scrub brush or broom to get those stubborn areas sparkling? They should be cleaned at least on a monthly basis and you should be replacing broom heads every 6 months. To clean them, fill a bucket or a sink with enough warm water to completely submerge the tools and let them soak in bleach for 20 minutes. Then take them out carefully and rinse with warm water.

Sponges
Did you know that a sponge is likely the dirtiest thing you have in your entire house? To clean a sponge, run them through a cycle in the dishwasher or microwave them if they don’t contain any metal parts. Clean your sponges at least once a week.

Mops
If you have a mop with a removable head, throw it in the wash using hot water. If the head doesn’t come off, let it soak in a bucket full of hot water.

Vacuum Cleaners
You’ve probably never thought about cleaning your vacuum, right? Well, they should be cleaned at least twice a year. Rinse off all hard attachments in soapy water and clean out hair and string that may be caught in the hose or wheels.

Now that your cleaning supplies are in tip-top shape it’s time to get to work! Dedicate a few hours and some elbow grease and you’ll be on your way to a bathroom that sparkles!

Wall Surrounds & Wainscoting

When you think of bathroom walls we’re going to guess that paint or tile are the first, and maybe the only, two things that come to mind. Well, there’s plenty more options that can really take the look and feel of your bathroom to a whole new level. And no, we’re not talking about wallpaper either - we’re talking about beautiful wall surrounds and Wainscoting. Learn more about the two below:

Wall Surrounds
Re-Bath® offers you a large assortment of proprietary, one-of-a-kind, designer wall colors to bring out the style of your new dream bath. This is where your creativity and design taste comes into play. Choose from over 9 different patterns, including patented designs to add that personal and elegant touch. Accentuate your new dream bath with borders, sophisticated shower heads and hardware, top-of-the-line soap dishes and the perfect shower enclosures for the final design features.

What’s more? Your new Re-Bath® Wall Surrounds are grout free, so say goodbye to scrubbing those old and moldy grout lines. Re-Bath provides a Manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty on your new bath so you have the confidence that you will enjoy your new bath for as long as you own your home.

Wainscoting
Installing Wainscoting has a number of significant advantages for both appearance and function. From a design perspective, wainscoting can "open up" an otherwise small area and give the appearance of a larger space. Wainscoting is also an ideal way to add an interior design feature to your bathroom that offers an elegant addition of color, style, texture or pattern. Wainscoting is also an ideal way to protect the walls outside your tub and shower from the normal "wear and tear" common in the bathroom area.

Just when you thought you only had two options - paint or tile. To learn more about wall surrounds or Wainscoting, don’t hesitate to give the expert bathroom remodelers at Re-Bath of Richmond a call today! 804-591-1621.
